Dr. Murray Buttner joined us in September 2023. He obtained his medical degree from Columbia University in New York City and completed his residency at the University of New Mexico in Albuquerque. While working at the Little Indian Health Service Hospital in Acoma, NM, Dr. Buttner heard multiple people talk about their incredible experiences working in Alaska. As a native New Englander, he had to see it for himself, so he moved to Alaska in 1997 where he met his Alaskan wife, Jen, in September 2001. Dr. Buttner and his wife settled in Alaska with their daughter, Natalie, their son, Sam and their dog, Copper.

He has lived and worked in Klawock, Juneau, Cordova, and Anchorage, where he served as a faculty member at the Alaska Family Medicine Residency Program.  The Buttner family is returning to Anchorage after living and working in Dutch Harbor/Unalaska for the past four years. Hillside Family Medicine is delighted to have him on our team.
